Thermal Conductivity and Specific Heat of Densified Refuse Derived FuelCal Recovery Systems, Inc., 160 Broadway, Suite 200, Richmond, Califorina, U.S.A. The thermal conductivity and specific heat of densified refuse derived fuel dRDF pellets were determined through experimental method and using a simple heat balance. Values of thermal conductivity and of specific heat were determined over a range of pellet temperatures for dRDF of high and of low fuel quality and for two ranges of pellet density. Over the temperature range examined, the average thermal conductivity of dRDF was found to be in the range of 0.14 to 0.17 Wm -1K-1 while the average specific heat was found to be in the range of 1.4 to 1.8 JG-1K-1. Not surprisingly, the range of values are similar to those reported for other predominately cellulosic materials. The experimental method and the heat balance analyses are reported as part of the research.
